How Company Chatbots Make it Hard to Cancel Services

We all should be aware of how certain companies employ cunning tactics to persuade customers to stay on their service or to keep using their product even when you don't need it.

It’s becoming ever-increasingly difficult for many customers to cancel service subscriptions based on companies having an arduous process of unsubscribing. For instance, many businesses will make you jump through lots of hoops in order to get to a particular cancellation point so as to discourage people from cancelling the service/product. Some have gone as far as employing an Ai chatbot that will make you stumble over multiple pass-points & requisites until you can actually reach your “consumer rights” privilege point. Here is a good example of an AI Bot from Sirius XM trying to convince the customer to stay on the service plan:

🤖 AI Bot: Hi,👋 I’m Harmony the SiriusXM AI-powered Virtual Assistant. This chat will be monitored and recorded by SiriusXM and our service providers for quality purposes. How can I assist you with your SiriusXM service today?

🙄 Customer: Please cancel my service and DO NOT bill me for this new month cycle!

🤖 AI Bot: I understand you’d like to cancel your service. Could you share your reason for wanting to discontinue your subscription? This helps us improve our services…
